Residency at the Art Gallery of Toronto (AGO) - Feb-July 2024
I had the privilege of a AGOxRBC residency where I explored my Jamaican heritage through African diasporic Caribbean Revivalism, spiritual aesthetics, ritual sounds, and beadworking. This work has awakened a desire to explore more spiritual and sacred concepts with my art. This experience, along with a research trip and access to archival materials, shaped my performance work with producer Vanessa Spence and Virtu Arts Theatre. It's been all about healing, building anew, and bringing light to these histories.
I have been awarded grants from Canada Council for the Arts and the Waterloo Region Community Foundation to continue developing this performance with Virtu Arts Theatre. We are hoping to showcase an expanded version in the summer of 2026.
Michael Gibson Gallery in London - June/July 2024
Exhibited at Michael Gibson Gallery in London, Ontario, and debuted my sculpture Great Mother II. Michael and Jennie were so kind and gave me some priceless advice about my career.
These sculptures are now on display at Gallery Double T in Waterloo.
Studio 27/Holly’s cafe in Kitchener - October 2024
Installed a big outdoor sculpture on the patio at Studio 27/Holly’s Cafe, located at 27 Roy Street, Kitchener, ON. It's still up, so swing by if you're around!
Gallery Double t - November 2024
Exciting news - Gallery Double T is now representing me! I also had the chance to install a large steel sculpture in their space. It’s been an amazing experience working with and receiving guidance from Theresa.
THEMUSEUM - Kaleidoscope Exhibition - May 2025
I was invited to participate in the Kaleidoscope exhibition, where I showcased a piece called Rainbow Serpent. It’s part of my ongoing exploration into Afro-Caribbean spirituality and philosophy. Check it out if you’re in the area, located on 10 King St W, Kitchener.
TOAF and Art Nest in Toronto
I had the chance to build a new series of steel and brass sculptures for the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair. It was hot (note to self: bring a portable air conditioner next time). Art Nest - the public art incubator at TOAF, commissioned a new freestanding sculpture made from oversized stainless steel beads and aircraft cable. Huge thanks to curator Myta Sayo for the opportunity!
What I’ve learned: It’s definitely hot out there, but the art vibes? Totally worth it.
Summer art commission
For the rest of the summer I’ll be working intensely on a new large-scale commission. I can’t say much but here’s a sneak peak of the materials.
